And that’s a wrap! What a year its been!! From pandemics, promotions, events and everything in between- this year has been one for the books. Here are some of our favourite moments at the Core during this crazy year we’ve had…
February:
We celebrated Lunar New Year
This year we had to get creative! We launched our first ever online- only gift card promotion! This was such a success, we broke the internet! This promotion gave us the brilliant idea to always have an option to purchase gift cards fully online, from the comfort of your home! We can even have it shipped to you!

We found Easter
This year, we really hopped on the virtual game train! We hosted a twitter easter egg hunt and had TONS of fun with those able to participate!

We had some laughs
This year our marketing team really showed their silly sides when they posted this hilarious April Fools Day joke on our Instagram, GOOD ONE GUYS! For those still wondering…. No, unfortunately, we will not be adding in a retractable skylight.

We loved our Moms
To honour the worlds biggest superhero club, we teamed up with @calgaryparty50 and created the most beautiful backdrop for your Mothers Day Selfies. After all, what better way to spoil your mom than with a shopping spree and a photo op! We love you, moms!

We saved the bees!
Did you know the Core installed two bee hives on our roof this year? Yep, you heard that right! In partnership with @honeymeadowsbees the CORE launched an exciting sustainability initiative - honey bees at the CORE!

But THREE Gram Gardens for you to selfie in!
We had so much fun this year with our Gram Garden, we extended it through September due to the huge success! With a backdrop begging for a photo shoot, performances, free swag and even live portrait paintings from Rachel Meckling herself, it’s no wonder it was so hard for us to say goodbye to our beloved garden! Of course we can't forget all the donations collected from the Gram Garden were happily donated to Skipping Stone!

We were Mindful
The Core teamed up with University of Calgary’s STEM Art Hub to showcase work from “The Art of Mindfulness” program. This program was an initiative started with the goal of reducing the stigma around mental health and promoting an empathetic, science-based understanding of mental health and we were SO lucky to have them here for a sneak peek of the exhibit before it went up!

We Remembered
In honour of Remembrance Day, @themilitarymuseums of Calgary provided the CORE with a wonderful display as an appreciation to our heroes. Lest We Forget.
December
We found Christmas!
Santa, dancing, gift wrapping and more! Christmas at the Core is always a magical experience, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Santa came back on his fancy sleigh upgrade (thanks to Birks for the new set of wheels) and while you took your photos, Guest Services was hard at work wrapping your gifts for you! We also were able to experience an array of lunchtime performances by DJ Joanna Majik, the Calgary Fiddlers, McDonald Wilson Dance Academy and more! It really was the most wonderful time of the year, aside from all the other great months of course.
