Simons
Many materials that are used to make clothing take years to break down however, this isn’t the only consequence. These materials may also release methane and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and contaminate our water and soil with toxic substances.
This is why Simons introduced recycle fibers – using recycled fibers allows Simons to reduce the use of fossil-based resources, carbon emissions and the impact on water.

H&M
The unfortunate fact is that less than 1% of the materials used to make clothing is getting recycled each year, this means thousands of tons of textiles that can be repurposed are ending up in landfills.
Are you tired of your old wardrobe? Don’t just throw it away, recycle it!
In 2013 H&M introduced their Garment Collecting Program – a recycling program which you can take any unwanted clothes or textiles regardless of brand or condition to be recycled at an H&M store.
To reward your good deed H&M will offer you a 15% coupon to use towards your next purchase!
Once your old articles are dropped they are divided into three categories – re-wearable clothing which will be marketed as second hand, re-useable materials that can be turned into something new, and recyclable materials which are shredded into textile fibres and used to make insulation materials and more!
Did you know that H&M also carries a line of eco-friendly pieces? This is called the Conscious collection. A collection of pieces created with a little extra consideration for the planet. All Conscious items are made with at least 50% sustainably sourced materials.
Next time you visit H&M look for the green hangtag! The green hangtag means that the garment is part of the Conscious collection.
Even your swimwear can be Conscious!
